A crown completely covers a weak tooth above the gum line and protects it.
Crowns are made of porcelain with metal to give the appearance of a perfect tooth. You will normally be given a local anaesthetic to numb the area then shape the tooth so that with the crown will be the same shape as a normal tooth.
