What will happen during my dental implant treatment?
At the consultation appointment, X-rays will be taken and impressions to make models and a stent (guide) to enable Isabelle to chose the correct Implant for you. You may have an existing gap where a tooth was extracted, or you may need to have a tooth extracted due to abscess etc. The Implant will be placed and the wound closed with sutures. A temporary denture can be made to fill the gap in the meantime if necessary.
After three months the Implant is uncovered and an impression is taken for the crown to be made. This will take a couple of weeks for the technician to make.
The new tooth (crown) is then screwed in to place within the Implant.
Implants can also be placed to hold a denture. Four Implants can hold a full denture , which then just clicks in to place……no more wobbling around dentures!
How long do implants last?
Implants will last for many years, but should be regularly maintained in the same way you care for your other teeth.
